SSUSA, or Senior Softball USA, is a governing body that writes the rulebook for senior softball and sanction leagues and tournaments for senior softball players around the world. Like other governing bodies, SSUSA provides certifications for legal gear, such as senior softball bats.
The Senior Softball USA certifications require that bats have a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.21 or less. Bat performance factor is a metric associated with how much “rebound” a bat can provide. Bats with a BPF of 1.21 will provide an additional 21% rebounded energy as compared to throwing a softball against a solid wall.
