EvoShield Protective Gear Guide: Pro-SRZ 3.0, SRZ-2 Youth & More
Getting hit by a pitch is part of baseball and softball. Stepping into the box worried about getting hit shouldn’t be.
EvoShield protective gear is built to give hitters added confidence without loading them down with bulky equipment. From custom-molding elbow and leg guards to hand protection and youth-specific options, EvoShield has developed a lineup that lets players choose the amount of coverage that makes sense for their game.
The latest Pro-SRZ™ 3.0 collection takes that protection even further with upgraded comfort, impact management, and fit. Younger players can turn to the SRZ-2™ Youth Series, while hitters looking for additional head and facial coverage have options like the XVT 2.0 Batting Helmet with Face Shield.
Why EvoShield Gel-to-Shell Technology Is Different
At the center of many EvoShield guards is Gel-to-Shell® Technology.
Instead of starting as a rigid piece of plastic, the guard arrives flexible. Once activated, the material molds around the player and transforms into a customized protective shield in approximately 30 minutes.
That custom fit is important because protective equipment works best when it sits closely and securely against the area it is designed to protect.
EvoShield combines Gel-to-Shell technology with Dispersion Technology, allowing impact to be distributed across the protective surface instead of concentrating force in one small area.
For the Pro-SRZ 3.0 lineup, EvoShield added even more comfort and impact protection through Memory Foam Backing and a Perforated Foam Layer.
Here’s a closer look at the EvoShield protective gear available at Headbanger Sports and how to decide which setup is right for you.
EvoShield Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Elbow Guard
For many hitters, the standard Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Elbow Guard is the starting point.
It provides custom-molded protection around one of the areas most exposed to inside pitches while maintaining a low-profile design that won’t get in the way of the swing.
The latest version adds Memory Foam Backing for improved comfort and a Perforated Foam Layer designed to reduce the maximum force felt when a pitch makes contact with the guard.
EvoShield also updated the strap system with tabs on both ends and a larger hook-and-loop area, making it easier to secure the guard exactly where you want it.
Pro-SRZ 3.0 Elbow Guard Sizing
Measure the circumference of the bicep just above the elbow.
Small: Arm circumference under 10"
Large: Arms circumference over 10"
For players who want straightforward elbow protection without covering a larger portion of the arm, this is likely the best place to start.
EvoShield Pro-SRZ 3.0 Double Strap Elbow Guard
Need more coverage?
The Pro-SRZ 3.0 Double Strap Elbow Guard extends protection farther up the triceps while using two straps to create a secure fit around the arm.
It is especially well suited for travel ball, high school, and college hitters who want more protection than the standard elbow guard but still prefer a single protective shield.
You still get Gel-to-Shell customization, Memory Foam Backing, the Perforated Foam Layer, and EvoShield’s impact-dispersing design.
The biggest difference is simply more coverage and a more locked-in double strap fit.
EvoShield Pro-SRZ 3.0 Two-Piece Elbow Guard
For hitters who want the most arm coverage in the lineup, take a look at the Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Two-Piece Elbow Guard.
This setup uses two custom-molding shields that hinge at the elbow, allowing the guard to protect a larger portion of the arm while still moving naturally as the hitter bends the elbow and swings.
The Pro-SRZ 3.0 version introduces a new connection between the two protective sections using two elastic pieces, improving fit and movement around the elbow.
This is the option we would look toward for players who step into the box wanting maximum elbow and upper-arm protection.
EvoShield Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Hand Guard
Getting hit around the hands can be one of the more uncomfortable parts of crowding the plate.
The Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Hand Guard uses two Gel-to-Shell protective shields positioned across the back of the hand and outside of the wrist.
It can be worn with or without batting gloves, and an elastic loop secures the guard around the middle and ring fingers while an integrated wrist strap keeps everything in place.
The ergonomic design is intended to maintain natural hand movement through the swing.
Choosing the Correct Hand Guard
This one can be confusing, so remember:
Right-handed hitters: Choose RH Hitter — the guard is worn on the left hand.
Left-handed hitters: Choose LH Hitter — the guard is worn on the right hand.
The Pro-SRZ 3.0 Hand Guard is ideal for players over age 10 who want more confidence when protecting the lead hand against inside pitches.
EvoShield Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Leg Guard
Inside pitches aren't the only concern at the plate. Fouled-off balls can find the shin, ankle, or lower leg in a hurry.
The Pro-SRZ 3.0 Batter’s Leg Guard brings EvoShield's custom-molding technology to the lower body, creating a guard shaped specifically around the player.
Just like the rest of the Pro-SRZ 3.0 collection, it uses Memory Foam Backing, Perforated Foam, Gel-to-Shell technology, and Dispersion Technology.
Updated strap tabs on both sides make it easier to put the guard on or take it off, while the larger adjustment area helps players find a more secure fit.
For hitters who consistently wear lower-leg protection, the custom-molded design is a major advantage over a generic hard-shell guard.
EvoShield SRZ-2 Youth Batter’s Elbow Guard
The SRZ-2 Youth Batter’s Elbow Guard uses a simple single-strap design to protect from the elbow toward the triceps.
Gel-to-Shell Technology allows the guard to mold specifically around the player's arm, while Diamond Pro Mesh adds a fun youth-focused exterior and 3D Mesh with a debossed honeycomb pattern improves comfort against the body.
Youth Elbow Guard Sizing
The youth elbow guard is intended for players with arms under 10".
Measure the circumference of the bicep just above the elbow.
The guard itself measures approximately 8" x 5".
For younger players starting to face faster pitching, this can be a great way to add confidence without jumping directly into larger adult protective gear.
EvoShield SRZ-2 Youth Batter’s Leg Guard
The SRZ-2 Youth Batter’s Leg Guard protects the lead shin and top of the foot while remaining lightweight enough for younger players.
The design features two Gel-to-Shell shields that mold around the player, giving them personalized coverage against foul balls and pitches in the dirt.
Extended protection on both sides of the ankle also allows the guard to be molded for either a right-handed or left-handed hitter.
The SRZ-2 Youth Leg Guard is designed primarily for players younger than 11 years old.
Like the youth elbow guard, it features Diamond Pro Mesh and a comfortable 3D mesh interior.
