6 Types of Baseball Pitches
There are countless different pitching grips, but for our purposes, we’re going to focus on the six most common types and how to achieve them.
The four-seam fastball is the most common grip and typically the grip that’s first learned by players. This pitch is not only fast but allows the player more control over the ball and its trajectory and when batters see this pitch, they’ll see four parallel seams heading their way. To do the four-seam grip:
Averaging roughly one to three miles per hour slower than that four-seam, the two-seam fastball is another common grip. When batters see this grip, they’ll see only two parallel seams headed towards them. To grip a ball in this way:
The curveball is the perfect pitch to throw off batters because it starts to sink as it reaches them. It also looks like it’s outside of the strike zone initially, but then curves back in last second, and is slower than fastballs. While fastballs rotate from bottom to top, curveballs rotate from the top to the bottom. To hold this grip:
The slider grip was considered to be the best grip by baseball icon Ted Williams because they’re faster and break later than curveballs. To achieve this grip
There are many different types of changeups, but the circle changeup is the most popular. It’s almost identical to a fastball, but because of slight differences in the grip, it’s a much slower pitch. This confuses batters. To do the circle changeup:
The knuckleball is the slowest pitch and the hardest to throw. It also trips up batters the most because it has such unpredictable movements. It appears to be floating while also darting around, making it hard to hit. To do this grip:

Does Newton's 2nd Law truly affect our Baseball Swing? Newton's Second Law; force equals mass times acceleration, this being said... If a person can swing a 34/31 oz baseball bat comfortably you should see more exit speed acceleration than if you swing a 31/28.
Are we saying you should swing the heaviest bats out there? Absolutely not, but finding the bat that you can comfortably swing with the most mass will 100% impact your exit speeds.
The results shown in the video surely give us some things to think about, especially those children utilizing incorrect baseball bat sizing and guessing what they truly need.
The Baseball Bat Bros Conclusion:
THE SIZE OF BAT YOU GET WILL IMPACT YOUR HITTING GAME EQUALLY AS MUCH AS THE TYPE OF BAT YOU GET.
Will's favorite: 34"
John's favorite: 33.5"
Cam's favorite: 33"

Part 2 (CHAMPIONSHIP) coming next week!
Missing composite 2020 BBCOR Baseball Bats: Axe Bat: We tried, but we couldn't get in touch with any reps from Axe Bat, Combat B2: It was tough to get this one as it's a JustBats exclusive but we finally recently got one and will be posting a separate review shortly - this bat is very similar to the 2020 Easton Maxum as it's made with the same specs. Mizuno: Their rep only sent us their alloy-barrel bats.

The Baseball Bat Bros bring you the final showdown of the ultra light-swinging one-piece alloy + composite end cap BBCOR bats of 2020. These bats share the same design: a full one-piece aluminum bat until the last 10% of the barrel/end cap - which is composite. This allows for a more balanced, light-swinging bat.
We recommend these types of bats for contact hitters, younger BBCOR hitters, or players trying to better catch up to fast pitching.
Because the end of these bats is made of a lighter composite material, it sacrifices the bat’s endload - so don’t plan on any of these bats getting you too many home runs this year. These bats are meant for the same type of player that composite bats are made for - but the main difference in function between these bats and composite bats, is that composite bats are generally going to have a much bigger sweet spot and provide plenty of flex in the handle - hence the higher price tag.
Victus Vandal (Will’s pick):
More Vandals will be available first week of March 2020.

]]>Following a ton of requests from you guys, the Baseball Bat Bros review out the new Marucci Cat8 BBCOR Series.
The Baseball Bat Bros test out the difference in performance of BBCOR (high school) baseball bat vs. a USSSA (youth travel ball) baseball bat.
Warning: We lost a lot of baseballs in this video!
We will also be doing a more in-depth review of the 2020 Combat Maxum 360 - so stay tuned for that!
This video was simply meant to demonstrate the performance difference in a BBCOR Baseball Bat vs. a USSSA Baseball Bat.
This test had VERY conclusive results - as expected, the USSSA -5 bat blew the -3 BBCOR out of the water - as it should have. The BBCOR standard put on high school baseball bats in 2012 really dampened down the pop of -3 high school bats. Most BBCOR bats actually have something called a 'restrictor ring' in the barrel to prevent trampoline effect and springiness in the barrel. In other cases companies are forced to just use much thicker barrel walls. This has resulted in bats with smaller sweet spots and bats that hit the ball similar to the way a wood bat does. The BBCOR .50 stamp means that a stationary BBCOR bat will only rebound 50% of a baseball's velocity coming towards it.
On the other hand, a USSSA 1.5 BPF bat has a lot more freedom. These bats are known for their thin, unrestricted barrel walls which results in a big time springy trampoline effect and a loud, hollow sound when hitting. The difference on well-struck balls with a BBCOR and USSSA bat was about 25-40 feet.

Upon many requests, the Baseball Bat Bros review the 2020 Easton ADV 360 BBCOR Baseball Bat!
The 2020 Easton ADV 360 is a 2-piece composite bat that swings pretty balanced and will be best suited for contact hitters. In terms of swing weight, we think it swings pretty similarly to the DeMarini CF Insane and DeMarini Voodoo. We thought it was pretty refreshing to come across a 2-piece composite bat that wasn't so overly-balanced. The ADV 360 still had enough mass in the barrel and handle stiffness to hit the ball out of the yard, but a big enough sweet spot and light enough swing to impress a contact hitter like Mason.

The Baseball Bat Bros try out and review two of the lightest swinging 2020 BBCOR Baseball Bats in the game: the 2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro and the 2020 Rawlings Velo ACP.

These bats are going to be best suited for contact hitters and younger BBCOR players. If you're looking to hit the ball out of the yard, these bats probably aren't for you. But if you're looking to catch up to fast pitching and maximize bat control - it doesn't get much better than these two bats.
We recommend these bats exclusively for younger/new BBCOR hitters as well as true 'contact hitters' facing faster pitching. If you don't fall into one of those categories, we have plenty of other videos/reviews for you!
The Quatro Pro is a 2-piece composite bat (they say 4-piece, but in everyone else's terms, it's a 2-piece). And it's probably the single lightest BBCOR bat out there - and it has a huge sweet spot (which is a pretty rare combo - hence the $450 price tag). It honestly feels a lot like swinging a dampened-down drop-5!
The Velo ACP is a non-traditional 2-piece: All aluminum until the last 2 or 3 inches of the end of the bat - then it transitions to composite so the bat swings much lighter/balanced. Also going to be one of the lightest bats out there - a really similar bat to the Louisville Slugger Solo and the Victus Vandal.

These are two of the most-used bats in college baseball and definitely fall into the "power bat" category.
While the DeMarini Voodoo has frequently been bucketed into the "balanced" baseball bat discussion. This bat is quite a bit more endloaded than some of its counterparts like the CF Zen & Voodoo One - and is actually more comparable to the CF Insane in terms of its swing weight. That's why we think they dropped the "Balanced" from the name in 2020 - and went back to simply the "Voodoo".
The Select PWR is widely accepted as an endloaded, power-optimized brute. Definitely a bit more swing weight on this one, but it made up for it with a very explosive sweet spot.
2020 Louisville Slugger Select PWR (formerly known as the 719, 718, 716):
DeMarini Voodoo (formerly known as the Voodoo Balanced - the Voodoo Insane was converted into 2020 DeMarini The Goods:
